Meadow Valley Electric Installs Solar PV System |
|
Ephrata: Meadow Valley Electric, a commercial electrical contractor in Lancaster County since 1973 has installed a solar PV system at their facility in Ephrata, PA to generate energy and take advantage of the financial incentives presently available. Almost 1,000 PV Solar panels were installed generating 198 kw in a project accepted in the first tier of the PA Sunshine Program. The program is limited to 200KW generation projects for privately owned commercial properties.
Tim Bollinger, MVE's treasurer, says, "the state's funding and the Federal government's 30% tax credit makes solar power an affordable green energy solution, but it's also necessary for solar to have a practical return on investment."
The system produces more than enough electricity to operate the Meadow Valley offices and shop. Any additional electricity produced beyond what is used will be sold back to PPL. In addition, MVE installed a meter to record the Kw produced by the panels to provide the necessary records to qualify for Renewable Energy Credits, which can be sold to utilities or companies that need to or want to meet renewable energy production quotas.
