Solar Energy Topic of Sunday News Article

Lancaster:  A December 20, 2009 article in the Lancaster Sunday News entitled "Sun Lighting Way to Energy Independence" by staff writer Jon Rutter quoted a number of members of the Steering Committee of the Center of Excellence in Renewable Energy and featured the work of J.K. Mechanical Inc. of Willow Street as the installer of a residential solar installation.  Click here to see the article.

"Since the Pennsylvania Sunshine Program rebates started in May, the PA Department of Environmental Protection has received about 1,000 applications from homeowners seeking to install solar panels or solar hot water systems. Terry C. Kile, Chairman of the county Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy, predicts that the market incentives will help ignite a solar chain reaction.  As the cost of installing solar-energy edges below $7 a kilowatt-hour, Kile said, more people will buy it, driving the price lower yet.  The has more than 300 certified solar-energy installers, including eight in the county."  See the list of solar providers in Lancaster County using the Local Providers menu on the left of this website.
