Mission It is the mission of the Lancaster County Center of Excellence in Renewable Energy to see that Lancaster County employers remain competitive in an era of rapid change in the energy marketplace. The Center does this by supporting education regarding energy conservation and energy options; encouraging collaboration among area companies to conserve, buy, and sell energy; and sponsoring technology transfer to encourage renewable energy generation projects. Vision We see the Center as an organization that provides the overall strategic framework for energy projects in the County related to agricultural, commercial, and industrial needs for conservation and energy generation. The Steering Committee assures that projects which develop are compatible with the overall mission of the Center. Project operators freely share information about their program with the Committee as well as with the various publics of the Center through its website. Through its primary stakeholders, The Lancaster Chamber, the Economic Development Company, the Lancaster County Workforce Investment Board, Lancaster County Cooperative Extension, and the County of Lancaster, the Center is the fiscal agent for energy projects that develop. It is responsible for seeing that public funding is spent appropriately, that duplication of programs is kept to a minimum, and that innovation is encouraged wherever possible. Priority of Service As conceived at its inception, the priority of service for the Center is as follows… - Support of renewable energy generation projects (solar, geothermal, biomass);
- Support of cooperative efforts to buy and sell electricity at a better price;
- Support of energy conservation projects and programs for the agricultural, commercial, and industrial markets;
- Skill training in certifications that related to the needs of providers;
- Technology transfer to companies that wish to enter the energy market as a provider of service;
- Connection to agricultural energy linkages through the Center of Excellence in Production Agriculture;
- Communication of new and existing services to the agricultural, commercial, and industrial marketplace.
